About this product

The Garburn is the boot Wayfell is known for, and the one we sell most of above £200. It is rated B1, so it is stiff enough to take flexible C1 crampons for winter hillwalking and still comfortable on a long summer ridge.

With 2.6mm full-grain leather, a full rubber rand and a Wayseal membrane, a pair weighs 1,560g in a UK 8. Most people need four or five walks before it feels like theirs.

  • B1 flex rating, takes C1 strap-on crampons
  • 2.6mm full-grain leather with a full rubber rand
  • Waterproof Wayseal lining for winter bogs and snowmelt
  • Holdfast sole with 5mm lugs and a stepped heel for braking

Great boot, too stiff for me

Really well made but too stiff for the Beacons paths I mostly walk. I'd have been better off with something softer. Keeping them for winter.

    Winter and summer boot

Wore them with C1 crampons up Cairn Gorm in February and over Ben Macdui in August. Dry both times and very stable on the rock steps. Break them in properly first.

    Second pair in ten years

My first pair did eight years and two resoles. Bought the same again without trying anything else on. They still need a few walks to soften.
