About this product

The Dene is the boot most people try first when they come in for a fitting, and it has been our best seller since the first version in 2021. For the II we widened the toe box by 4mm and stiffened the heel counter, after Club members told us their heels lifted on steep descents.

Suede and recycled mesh keep the weight to 1,180g a pair, and the Weatherline membrane kept our test team dry through a wet March on Dartmoor. The Tor Grip sole has 4mm lugs: enough for muddy bridleways and stony tracks, and still comfortable on a stretch of tarmac.

Materials

Upper suede and recycled polyester mesh. Lining recycled polyester with a polyurethane membrane. EVA midsole, rubber outsole.

Care

Brush off mud and let them dry at room temperature, away from radiators. Reproof the suede with a fabric and suede proofer every few months.

    Good boot, laces too short

    Comfortable and dry on Hadrian's Wall. The laces only just tie with a double knot though, so I swapped them for longer ones. Would still buy again.

    Third pair of Denes

    Had the first version twice and these are better at the heel. No slipping coming down off Win Hill. The fitter in the Bakewell shop spent half an hour with me, which helped.

    Dry after a wet day round Yes Tor

    Wore them straight out of the box for nine miles from Meldon. Bog up to the laces in places and my socks were dry at the end. The toe feels roomier than my old pair.
