Size guides
Measure in centimetres and compare with the tables below. Better still, come into a shop: we measure feet and fit packs free, and you can take as long as you need.
Footwear
Measure both feet in the afternoon, when they're at their largest, standing up and wearing the socks you walk in. Stand with your heel against a wall, mark the end of your longest toe on a sheet of paper, and measure from the wall to the mark. Go by the longer foot.
Find your foot length in the table. Boots are made longer than the foot they fit, leaving about a finger's width (1 to 1.5cm) in front of your toes so they don't hit the end on the way downhill. EU sizes vary a little between makers, so foot length is the better guide. Some boots also come in a wide fit, and the product page says so.

Waterproofs and layers
Measure over a base layer, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight:
- Chest: around the fullest part, under your arms.
- Waist: around your natural waist, the narrowest part.
- Hip: around the fullest part of your hips and bottom.
- Inside leg: from the top of your inner thigh to the floor, without shoes.
Our waterproof jackets are cut with room for a fleece underneath, so take your usual size. If you're between sizes, go up for jackets and insulated layers, and down for base layers, which work best close to the skin.

Gloves
Measure around your palm at the knuckles, leaving out your thumb, on the hand you write with.
| Size | Around the palm (cm) |
|---|---|
| S | 18 to 19 |
| M | 19.5 to 20.5 |
| L | 21 to 22 |
| XL | 22.5 to 23.5 |
Packs
Daypacks are one size, with straps that adjust. Bigger packs come in two back lengths, S/M and M/L. Your back length isn't your height, and two people of the same height can need different sizes.
To measure it, tilt your head forward and find the bony bump at the base of your neck. Put your hands on the top of your hip bones, thumbs pointing to your spine. Ask someone to measure from the bump down your spine to the line between your thumbs.
| Size | Back length (cm) | Hips (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| S/M | 40 to 48 | 66 to 107 |
| M/L | 46 to 54 | 76 to 117 |
If you're in the overlap, try both with some weight in. Any of our shops will fit a pack for you, with weighted bags so it feels like a full load. Child carriers adjust to fit both parents.
Sleeping
Sleeping bags
| Size | Inside length (cm) | Fits people up to (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| Regular | 190 | 180 |
| Long | 210 | 200 |
Choose the length by your height and the warmth by the comfort temperature (ISO 23537) on the product page. A bag that's too short squashes the filling at your head and feet, and one that's far too long leaves extra air for you to warm. To zip two bags together, buy the same model with one left zip and one right zip.
Sleeping mats
| Size | Length x width (cm) |
|---|---|
| Regular | 183 x 51 |
| Regular Wide | 183 x 64 |
| Long | 196 x 64 |
Kids
Children's sizes are by age, but height is the better guide. If your child is between sizes, go up, especially for waterproofs, which go over other layers.
Kids' clothing

Kids' footwear
Children's shoe sizes run from 10 to 13, then start again at 1. Children's feet can grow a size in a few months, so measure them before you buy, and leave about a finger's width in front of the toes.
| UK | EU | Foot length (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 28 | 16.9 |
| 11 | 29 | 17.8 |
| 12 | 30.5 | 18.6 |
| 13 | 32 | 19.5 |
| 1 | 33 | 20.3 |
| 2 | 34 | 21.2 |
| 3 | 35.5 | 22.0 |
| 4 | 36.5 | 22.9 |
| 5 | 38 | 23.7 |
Kids' sleeping bags are shorter than adult ones, so there's less air to warm, and each product page gives the height they fit. Shop the kids' range.
