About this product

New for Spring Summer 2027, Swale is the Hale jacket for multi-day trips with 15kg or more on your back. The shoulders and hips are 70-denier recycled nylon, where pack straps wear a shell thin, and the body is 40-denier to save weight. The 3-layer Weatherline fabric is rated to 25,000mm.

It's 6cm longer than Brackwater at the back, with pit zips and a hood that fits over a warm hat. Our testers wore it on the Pennine Way and the Cape Wrath Trail before about 300 Trail Panel members tried it this summer. It weighs 520g in size M.

  • 70D recycled nylon on the shoulders and hips, 40D elsewhere
  • Back hem 6cm longer than Brackwater
  • Hood fits over a warm hat
  • 35cm pit zips
  • Covered by the Hale lifetime repair promise

Tested it on the Coast to Coast

I tested this for the Trail Panel over twelve days of the Coast to Coast in September. No wear on the shoulders at all, which my last jacket couldn't say after a week. Heavy for a day walk, but that's not what it's for.
