About this product

Smirr is Cairnhope's lightest mountain jacket, built for long summer days on the Scottish hills when the weather can still close in by afternoon. The Stormcairn 3L fabric uses a polyethylene membrane, rated to 20,000mm with a breathability of 25,000g/m²/24h, and the jacket weighs 330g in size M.

The hood fits over a helmet and has a laminated brim. Two chest pockets sit above a harness or hip belt, and the cuffs are cut long to cover glove gauntlets. Cairnhope designs and tests its shells in the Cairngorms and on Skye.

  • Helmet-compatible hood with a laminated brim
  • Chest pockets clear of a harness or hip belt
  • Long cuffs to cover glove gauntlets
  • PFAS-free polyethylene membrane
  • 330g in size M

    Snug cut

Great fabric and it breathes well on Bleaklow. The cut is slim, so I went up a size to get a fleece under it. The orange is bright, as you'd want on the hills.

Light enough for the Cuillin ridge

Used it on two days of the Cuillin ridge in June when the cloud came in. Fits over a helmet and doesn't get in the way when climbing. Pricey, but I've not found anything this light that's this well cut.
