About this product
Onding is Cairnhope's jacket for people who spend whole seasons in the mountains. The Stormcairn 3L Pro fabric pairs a 40-denier body with 80-denier panels on the shoulders, forearms and hips, where rock and pack straps wear a shell through. It's rated to 28,000mm, breathes at 30,000g/m²/24h and weighs 500g in size M.
The hood is cut for a helmet with a wired brim. A two-way front zip lets you clip into a harness without opening the chest, and the pit zips run 45cm. There are two chest pockets for a map or gloves and no hand pockets.

Care
Machine wash at 30°C with a technical cleaner, then tumble dry low to reactivate the water-repellent finish.

Winter season sorted
Worn for a full winter instructing in the northern Cairngorms. The reinforced panels have taken a beating from rock and crampons and barely show it. Two-way zip works well with a harness.

Built like a tank
Bought it for my partner, who climbs in winter. He loves it. It's heavy for summer and £400 is a lot, but it should last him years.
