About this product

Four poles cross five times on the Skua 2, so a gust loads the whole frame at once. We tested it on the plateau above Coire an t-Sneachda in winds our anemometer logged at 55mph, and it stood all night.

The flysheet comes down to the ground on every side, with snow valances you can bury or roll up. There are two doors, and the inner has a solid upper panel to keep spindrift out. It is about 1kg heavier than the Dunlin 2, so most people keep it for winter and high camps.

Care

Dry fully before storing, even after a frost. Sponge clean with cold water and check the guylines for wear each season.

Solid in a real blow
Pitched it by Loch Etchachan in late September with the wind coming over Ben Macdui. It barely moved. Takes ten minutes to pitch properly, so practise first.
