About this product

Smew is new for Spring Summer 2027 and it's the heaviest Swift shell by design. It's for backpacking routes where the weather can turn serious, such as the Cape Wrath Trail in October. The 3-layer Updraft fabric has a 20-denier face, is rated to 28,000mm and breathes at 25,000g/m²/24h, for 320g in size M.

The hood fits over a climbing helmet and cinches down without one. There are 35cm pit zips, two hand pockets above a hip belt and a chest pocket for a phone. Trail Panel testers asked for a stiffer peak after the first samples, and the final version has one.

  • Helmet-compatible hood that cinches down without one
  • 28,000mm rating on 20D recycled nylon
  • Pit zips run 35cm under each arm
  • Chest pocket plus two hand pockets clear of a hip belt
  • Stiffer peak, added after Trail Panel testing

    Cape Wrath Trail, nine days

Took a Trail Panel sample on the Cape Wrath Trail in late August. Two days of proper Atlantic weather and it didn't let a drop in. First light jacket I've had where the hood stays put in a gale.
