About this product
Thole overtrousers are made from the same Stormcairn 3L fabric as the Thole jacket, rated to 28,000mm with a PFAS-free polyethylene membrane. They weigh 430g in size M, and full-length side zips let you put them on over crampons in a wind without sitting down.
Cairnhope adds 80-denier crampon patches inside each ankle, an adjustable hem with a lace hook, loops for braces and a thigh pocket for a map. They're cut to fit over softshell trousers and a harness.

Machine wash at 30°C with a technical cleaner, then tumble dry low to reactivate the water-repellent finish.

On over crampons in a gale
Got these on over crampons on the Cairn Lochan plateau in a whiteout without taking anything off. The lace hook stops them riding up. My last pair did five winters.

Excellent, a bit long
Bombproof on Great Gable in winter. The regular leg is long for me and the hem drags if I don't use the lace hook. Go short if you're under 5ft 9in.
