About this product
Teenagers on their first expedition need a boot that survives being left wet in a tent porch. The Scarth is split-grain leather and mesh over a Wayseal membrane, made on a unisex last in whole sizes from 4 to 12, so it suits school kit cupboards as well as growing feet.
The Holdfast sole has 4.5mm lugs and a wraparound rubber toe cap that takes plenty of scuffing. At 1,300g a pair in a UK 8 it is heavier than a fabric boot, and the leather takes more knocks than mesh.

Materials

Care
Rinse off mud after every trip and dry with the insoles out. Use a fabric and leather proofer twice a season.

Good for the money
Did all my Dartmoor training walks in these. Heavy but dry and no blisters. The laces kept coming undone until I started double knotting them.

Two expeditions in
Bought for my son's school expeditions on the Beacons. Two trips and a lot of rain later they're still waterproof. He's grown a size since, so we'll be back.
