About this product

The mirror lid lets you take a bearing on a distant feature with the compass at eye level, which is more accurate than sighting from the waist. Colleagues who lead our winter skills days from Fort William use this one.

The global needle works anywhere in the world. A small screw sets the declination once and holds it, and the bezel and direction-of-travel arrow are luminous for night use. Romer scales cover 1:25,000, 1:40,000 and 1:50,000.

    A proper compass

Used it on a winter navigation course on the Ben Nevis plateau in cloud. The mirror makes back bearings much easier, and the luminous marks still showed after an hour in the dark.
