About this product

The Elvan 5 is the mat we sell most of to people who camp from the car or carry a short way to the pitch. Five centimetres of foam and air is thick enough for side sleepers, and an R-value of 4.4 covers cold spring nights.

It weighs 1.25kg, so it is heavy for a long backpacking trip. Two Elvan 5s side by side clip together with the strap in the bag, which stops them drifting apart overnight.

  • Five centimetres thick, R-value 4.4
  • Fills itself in about five minutes, then top up by mouth
  • Clip strap to join two mats
  • Twist valve in brass, which will not crack in a frost
  • Packs into a sack with two compression straps

    Good, slow to roll up

Very comfortable. Getting the air out to roll it back into the bag takes a while; kneel on it and go slowly.

    Comfiest mat I've had

I'm a side sleeper and this is the first mat where my hip doesn't hit the ground. We joined two together for a week at Erwood and they didn't slide apart.
