About this product

The Gleed is the head torch we sell most to hill walkers. It gives 450 lumens on boost and a steady 200 for four hours, enough for a winter descent from Helvellyn after a December sunset.

In sensor mode it dims when you look down at your map and brightens again when you look up the path, which makes the battery last longer. It charges by USB-C in three hours and is rated IPX6 for driving rain.

  • 450 lumens boost, 200 lumens steady
  • Sensor mode dims for map reading
  • USB-C charging in about 3 hours
  • IPX6 for driving rain
  • Shows battery level when switched on

    Sensor takes getting used to

Bright and well made, but in sensor mode it dims when someone else's torch shines at me, which is annoying in a group. I just use normal high now.

    Lasts well

Two weeks of dark dog walks on one charge, on low. Comfortable band.

Got me off Skiddaw in the dark

Misjudged the light on Skiddaw in December and came down the tourist path in full dark. Plenty of light, and the sensor stopped it dazzling me every time I checked the map.
