About this product
A hemmel is a Northumbrian cattle shed, open on one side, where stock wait out the winter. These trousers are for the same months. The outer is a tight-woven stretch polyamide that cuts the wind, and the inside is brushed so it traps warm air without a layer underneath.
Tougher panels cover the inside ankles against boot scuffs and crampon nicks. There is a zipped thigh pocket and two zipped hand pockets, all with pulls big enough to use in gloves.

Too warm for spring
Excellent from December to February. Anything over about 10°C and they're too hot.

Warm in proper winter
Wore them up the Ben by the tourist path in January with a north wind blowing. Legs warm all day and no need for long johns.
